Week 9 can be summed up quite simply:
The plague hit our house and we were sick.
And we got 9 or 10 inches of snow. In one day. Which was a Sunday. And Ian and I are the "snow removal" team at church. Lord have mercy!
Being sick in America is infinitely better than being sick in Korea. American over-the-counter medicine works better than Korean prescriptions. Praise the Lord!

Week 7 + 8
Hi friends! I am trying to think of interesting things that have happened recently.
Um, coming up blank.
So here are the uninteresting details of life lately

- Our car has new oil and new tires. And soon she will have a new battery. The car dealership where all of this newness takes place has the sweetest coffee maker ever. I am pretty sure if it were in my home, I would gain 100 lbs very quickly from drinking caffe mochas all the time.
- Have I ever mentioned that I adore the kiddos that I nanny? Even when the wee one is potty training and there is poop in the pants, I still love these kids. 9 months ago, I would have said that I like infants and teens but not anyone in between (unless he or she is a Korean elementary school child). It is so great to have some little people to love on. All three of them happen to think that Miss Alissa is pretty cool :)
- We attended Aida with the Youth Group from church on Friday night. It was good. Definitely written by Elton John and Tim Rice. If I had small children, I would not take them to see it. The students that performed were so talented!

Week 6 - Trip to the Midwesty
Hi friends! I took a little trip to the Midwest last week! Some of our really good friends from Korea (they are Americans) came back for a visit. And I found cheap plane tickets - bam! I was there!
I found a running trail! I stayed near a town (with a population of 870). And I found a running trail! What a glorious run it was - harvested cornfields, peace and quiet, rural Midwestness.
I saw my friends (!!!!!) and their sweet, sweet baby. It was such a fun few days together. I am so glad I got to see them!
We sang Shout to the Lord in church on Sunday...I kept thinking of this and giggling to myself throughout the song:

Can you tell this is a "running out the door to drop Alissa off at the airport - oh wait, we need to take a picture!" picture? |

Week 5
Highlights from this week:
What I've been making: Shrimp Spinach Pasta, Baked Three Cheese Chicken Pasta, Meatloaf w/ Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Greek Pizza
What I've been enjoying: Pumpkin Cinnamon Woes and Coffee (I think Ian made 5 pans of Cinnamon Woes this week...we did not keep all of them)
What I've been reading: Ways to Save $100 Per Year
What I've been wearing: I found a sweatshirt at J. Crew's Factory this past fall. I wear it all.the.time. It is so comfy!
Is there anything more beautiful {or tempting} than a field of untouched snow? |
- It snowed! I think we got 3ish inches. Some of the places in the mountains got over 2 feet! Not surprising that the overall snowpack for the state of Colorado increased by 17 percent this week. The lovely thing about living where we live is that today's high is in the 50s!
- Ian started his second semester of Seminary this week! Wootwoot!
- We went to the SuperBowl Party...with the youth group at church. God is laughing at me right now.
- Best quote of the week (from G. K. Chesterton's Orthodoxy):
[Children] always say, “Do it again”; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. It is possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening, “Do it again” to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that he has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.

What is more fun than playing with kiddos in the snow? |
