Happiness is...

Do you have the "Happiness is..." part of your hometown newspaper?  It is one of my favorite parts of the newspaper along with birth announcements, garage sale notices, obituaries, police blotter, and comics.  Sometimes I read the sports page, but not usually.

I learned that you have to harness your, "I am woman, hear me roar" to cut through several pieces of fabric
Anywho, happiness is: going to spend the day with a friend.  Yesterday we were off school, so I headed to my second favorite city in Korea: Busan.  Guess what?  I made a skirt.  Okay well, I tried to make a skirt and then the Waygooken Housewife took over and actually made the skirt!  It is so cute!  I wore it to school today.  It is so comfy and cool.
Do not be fooled, I ripped out more seams than I put in, but I had fun
On my way to school this morning, don't ask about the angle of my leg, it is weird

Not only did we have a blast while sewing, I also used her lovely toaster oven and made some banana bread!  It was delicious, not perfect, but when you do not eat banana bread for 10 months, it tastes really good!
Banana bread in the toaster oven!
I was really proud of myself for finding a low-sugar banana bread recipe.  I used some applesauce that I had made (and froze) several months ago.  I thought it tasted yummy and it was semi-healthy.
This banana bread barely lasted 24 hours - it has been devoured!

Happiness is...getting a care package from America!  Woohoo!!!!!!!!!  Binks mailed us a care package!  I was in such a tizzy (does anyone say tizzy anymore?)  I did not know what to do.  I ended up wearing my new running watch and shaving the lint off our sheets while trying to get my amazing husband to show me pictures from one of my friend's recent weddings.

We got so many blessings out of that box!  Lasagna noodles!  A recipe for microwave lasagna (yes, you can also make cottage cheese in your microwave - check it out here) A microwave meatloaf recipe!  Lasagna noodles.  Granola bars. My new running watch (more on that in the next blog post).  Newspaper clippings from home.  The butter measurer.  The lint shaver thing.  Lasagna noodles.  Big huge ginamorous bags.  Recipes.  I will stop now.  Just know that I say this each time - it was the best care package ever.

There was a stowaway cicada in the box.  I am not sure if he was supposed to come to Korea or not, but he is here on our table, I do not want to touch him.  Does he go in the regular trash, recycling, or food trash?

Happiness is...being loved and showing love.

  1. I believe the cicada was supposed to go into the banana bread for extra fiber.

  2. I will have to keep that in mind for the next time I make banana bread...maybe some John the Baptist style banana bread?

  3. Take the cicada to school for show and tell.
Glad you are so delighted with such a great care package. Did they remember to include lasagna noodles? lol
